    Fair Use Policy

Understanding acceptable use of Tracking Hippo's container hosting platform.

    Effective Date: 04-08-2026

    1. Purpose

This Fair Use Policy ("FUP") explains the acceptable use of Tracking Hippo's container hosting platform. The goal is to ensure stable, high-performing services for all Clients while protecting the infrastructure from abuse or excessive consumption.

This policy is part of Tracking Hippo's Terms of Service. By using our platform, you agree to this FUP.

    2. Overview

Tracking Hippo operates on a pay-as-you-go model with a Flat Daily Rate per Container, charged for each started day a container is active. The standard rate includes up to 10,000,000 requests per Website per calendar month. Websites exceeding that threshold are considered High Usage Websites and incur the additional request charges described in Section 5. Charges may be deducted from the Client's prepaid balance or invoiced separately.

    3. What Is Fair Use?

    Fair use means:

    • Hosting a reasonable number of containers within the account limits defined in your plan,
    • Sending a normal amount of server-side traffic per container based on typical usage for analytics, conversion tracking, and tag execution,
    • Avoiding patterns that significantly burden the infrastructure, degrade performance, or indicate automated abuse.

    4. Examples of Excessive or Unfair Use

The following activities may violate our Fair Use Policy:

    • Hosting an unusually high number of containers without approval,
    • Sending traffic at a volume or pattern that threatens platform stability, including extreme sustained or burst traffic,
    • Using Tracking Hippo as a generic server, proxy, or data ingestion pipeline,
    • Looping requests through containers continuously (e.g. infinite tracking loops),
    • Bursting traffic at extreme volumes in short intervals without throttling,
    • Replacing traditional cloud platforms or CDNs with Tracking Hippo containers for raw data processing,
    • Any use that negatively affects other customers' performance or system availability.

    5. Limits and Thresholds

Default container limit: Each account has a soft limit on the number of containers it can host.

Need more? Contact support@trackinghippo.io to request an upgrade.

Included request volume: The standard container charge includes up to 10,000,000 requests for each Website during each calendar month.

High Usage Websites: A Website that processes more than 10,000,000 requests in a calendar month is considered a High Usage Website. Requests are measured per Website and aggregated across the containers, endpoints and domains associated with that Website in Tracking Hippo's traffic records.

High usage charge: Requests above the monthly allowance are charged at €10, excluding VAT, for each started block of 1,000,000 additional requests. For example, monthly usage from 10,000,001 through 11,000,000 requests results in a €10 additional charge.

What counts as a request: Each incoming HTTP or HTTPS request received by a Tracking Hippo endpoint for the Website counts as one request, regardless of the response status or whether the configured container ultimately forwards the request to another destination. Tracking Hippo's platform measurements and traffic records determine billable usage. Clients may contact support@trackinghippo.io if they believe a measurement is incorrect.

Billing: High usage charges apply automatically once the threshold is exceeded and do not depend on advance notice or approval. We will normally notify the Client when a Website approaches or exceeds the threshold. Charges may be deducted from the prepaid wallet after monthly usage is calculated or included on a separate invoice. An insufficient balance does not cancel the amount due and may result in suspension under the Terms of Service.

Log storage: Service, security, debugging and operational logs are retained in the European Union for 90 days and should not be used by Clients as long-term storage or an audit archive.

    6. Monitoring and Enforcement

We continuously monitor usage to ensure fairness. If your usage is determined to exceed fair use, we may:

    • Contact you to discuss upgrading your plan, or optimizing container behavior,
    • Charge the High Usage Website fees described in Section 5,
    • Throttle excessive traffic to preserve platform stability,
    • Temporarily suspend specific containers or accounts (with notice, unless urgent),
    • In extreme cases, terminate service as outlined in our Terms of Service.

    7. Exceptions

We understand some clients may have higher-than-average needs due to legitimate business reasons. We're happy to discuss custom limits or dedicated resources.

    Email support@trackinghippo.io for assistance.

    8. Updates

We may revise this Fair Use Policy over time to reflect platform growth and technical changes. The latest version is always available at https://trackinghippo.io/fair-usage-policy/. Continued use of the Services indicates your agreement to the current policy.
